Baya Antequera – 6 years after!
The Baya Antequera on the island of Tenerife was one of our moorings favorite in the Canary Islands when we passed there 6 years. Nothing has changed... The cliffs are always as spectacular and the black sand beach is shining under the Sun.
Sunday 16 October - Las Palmas
It is to 1 in the morning under a full moon that we are leaving Isla de Lobos in order to arrive before the night in Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria. We arrive in the rain with strong gusts. A change of wind being planned, We decide to get wet well away from the many boats already anchored.
It is a port... Stef and Marie on "Mr Happy" who had come to have a drink on Tao at Gibraltar notice us and we spend a good evening on Mr Happy.
Wednesday 19 October - Tenerife, Baya Antequera
"Mr. Happy" who have completed some minor repairs and updates, We decide to do together. We leave the anchor before the rising of the Sun and Mr Happy behind us. Arrival in Tenerife, our gennaker decides to take some air... in a few minutes everything is slouching...
We get wet in the Bay where as by miracle the strong waves of the sea do not fit.
There are still some strong rolls coming up on the beach, What makes the impossible landing in the annex. We therefore leave it on an anchor (small white point pictured above) and end to swim to the beach with two large drybag. Session of cleaning of the feet before walking shoes.
The climb starts mountain flan. The black sand beach where we started is in the background.
A small raises to catch our breath..
.. We continue among the cactus.
Too bad we don't have a glove to pick these Barbary figs
We abandon Nathalie to short distance from the Summit.
Our efforts are rewarded by great views.
The back is a little more difficult on the pebbles rolling.
Mary and Stef invite us on Mr Happy for a big bowl of pasta with home made pesto. We are Happy!
We spend a few pleasant days in this beautiful Bay and discuss plans for the rest of our passage in the Canary...
