Guadeloupe… "unmissable”
We enjoy to be in France to treat the nose of Philippe, What will it take 4 weeks... it is the opportunity to visit Guadeloupe. We found a beautiful island, wild and welcoming...
Thursday 26 January: Guadeloupe, The gullet
Back in Guadeloupe where Philippe finds his childhood friend Luke who lives on the heights of the throat.
We get wet in the Bay of the throat, facing the beach of the dacha, a place frequented by boats , the Guadeloupians and many pelicans that eating fish in seconds. At sunrise of the day, the beach comes alive, some run along the beach, while others swim between the boats up to the islet before going to work.
Nice surprise, our friends Natalie and Vincent (Madgic) make a stop at the throat for us see, before continuing their navigation to the North. Excellent restaurant lit Beach in the evening .
On the menu a small Caipirinha and tuna skewers shared between friends... the happiness!
Late January is the beginning of the Carnival in Guadeloupe. It is a festive and cultural event which combines high fashion shows in color, music, Gwoka who thinks still in our ears. It's the party!
Instruments are simple and agree on a background of percussion heady. The Queen conch is a traditional instrument which this young man brought out a more or less musical bellow.
The mosquito river canyon
The days are organized with Luc and Edwige that we discover exceptional hikes side Basse Terre. Nice walk to the departure of Petit Bourg, the Canyon of the river mosquito. The descent into the bed of the river is a bit steep, muddy and very slippery... Luke clings to the vines to find its balance.
Nothing but finally a walking stick to avoid sliding in the mud and many roots in surface.
Finally we come to the river.
The reward after this market... a refreshing bath in the mosquito River.
The rock walls bordering the river shine under the Sun,
with as only background noise... the waterfall.
A refreshing and energetic bath in the foam relax us!
The days do not resemble! "Relaxing" at Luke and Edwige, with a magnificent view of the island from the throat.
The coast north of Deshaies
The next walk brings us on the North coast of the island. The car is parked at the beach of almond trees and along the seaside up to Big Cove North of Deshaies.
A form of original pine that says when to the direction of the winds!
Our first "Selfiy" ! It's very tired, that we come in Grande anse and after a coconut ice, back in to the car stop.
4 getaway×4
Luke offers us a break 4×4 on low Earth above banana with a friend and his wife, who also have a 4×4 Land Rover.
After leaving the road, We borrow several tracks in the middle of fields of banana trees, what get lost!
We are starting to push us into the forest, the trail narrows and becomes Rocky with several river crossings.
Stop along the River to bathe.
It is a heavenly place not frequented by tourists.
Dozens of crayfish are hiding under rocks, unfortunate that we have nothing to catch them.
the 4×4 cross the river bed turns
and we enjoy to make splash!
Back along the coast to the throat at nightfall, under a sky silver.
The Holy, Cabrit islet
Ideal to go with Luke and Edwige. We are lucky because a dead body is free at anchor protected the islet of Cabrit.
Snorkling, paddle, Kayak and walk on the islet are scheduled. The funds are clear, a few fish and colorful coral manage to "survive", Despite the multitude of boats in the Bay of the town of Saintes.
Wednesday 15 February
Philippe comes to graft a new nose (Finally just a skin graft to replace an area damaged by the Sun) and we're going to get wet to guava behind ilet Fortune to wait for it to heal. Then back in the Bay of Pointe a Pitre, where we get wet across from the Museum of slavery.
Thursday 23 February
Philippe nose healing well and the doctor to given are green light in order to continue our way. We go quietly back to the West coast of Guadeloupe and tomorrow we do our "exit" in Deshaies. Cape on the island of Nevis, which doesn't seem too touristy, then St. Martin where we carénons Tao early March.
Hello to both, I noted your comment mentioning the State of health of Philippe, I hope that this is nothing serious. Is it n’ has more nose how will you it do to sniff a glass of wine and enjoy the scents of the Islands?
I kiss you

Don't miss Saba, small very steep island but super friendly, Although little sheltered and very rouleur anchorage.
