the peaceful Huahine

Before continuing to Moorea and Huahine we have to make a stopover in Papeete to repair our Gennaker, order a new lazy bag and see a bunch of friends...

We leave Taravao under a threatening sky, in the direction of Papeete. Traffic jams , pollution and scorching heat
are in the program.

Arriving at the anchorage of Taina we are surprised to see as many ships and especially all the "wild" moorings that clutter the Bay. But what are the authorities waiting for verbalize these thieves who appropriate a piece of sea? We cast anchor behind Avatar (Shelly and Mike) that we had not seen him since the Gambier.

We can also find Leslie and Vaughan (off 2 c) as well as Patricia and Stef (Milly) with whom we go to Papeete to listen to a concert of Takanini and watch on the big screen between the Blues and the All Black rugby match... The Kiwis were at the party!

After 1 busy week it's not too early to go on Moorea with Nirvana, who always has so much fun with us for short crossings.

Saturday 9 June 2018: Moorea

We discover the island of Moorea under a beautiful Rainbow that illuminates a forest of masts.

This draws us not and go to the opposite side of the Bay where only 2 boats are wet.

We sympathize with Ryan and Nicole with a passion for Kite surfing. For a long time Philippe has wanted to try. Luckily they know an instructor who teaches in the next Bay. Go for 2 hours of practice with David.

But first technical briefing on the beach,

then a first session to master sailing. At the end of the third lesson and a lot of water ingested, It's take-off and the first edges... (the photographer had stayed in bed!)

As soon as the sun comes up Philippe is on deck to watch for the arrival of the wind... It's the best time of the day (well, not for Kite surfing)…

... and no boatload of tourists still borrows the marked channel to cross the lagoon. A period of calm is announced and we continue our journey to Huahine where our friends Daniel and Esmeralda is await us.

Saturday 23 June 2018: Huahine

Soon arrived to Fare (the main village of Huahine) Daniel is on the dock and takes us for a tour of the island.

We do come across many people on the roads and the island shows its most beautiful colours.

Passage by the River to do to see the famous sacred blue-eyed eels!

Daniel stop facing the South pass to make us understand that take her boat is maybe not a good idea when the swell is over 2 metres. By the way, where is the pass?

Go a few days later us to bike to the North of the island and the road of Marae (traditional places of rallies, feasts and sacrifices). A very beautiful Fare Potee has been restored in the traditional way...

and serves as a Museum.
