Now make it you is taken to the construction site of Apataki for the fairing of Tao who really needs. It's going to maybe miss us of no longer having to scrape the shell all the 15 days!!
25 May 2019
It is under mainsail and motors we are committed in the past of Pakaka (to the South West of the island) in Apataki. It is 7 in the morning the brightness is perfect to cross the lagoon to the project site which is 10 miles more East... away from "civilization".
The inhabitants (500 about inhabitants), are grouped in the village of Niutahi. Fishing, the Pearl farming and tourism are the main activities of the atoll.
The shipyard which was born there a dozen years makes the happiness of sailboats for its location on the edge of lagoon among coconut trees, a rather "relaxing", even if the "bone" are our enemies n ° 1!
Tony now manages the family site created by his father Alfred, who keeps an eye on the smooth running of the operations. We do not have the chance to meet him and Tony helped 3 other youth who puts Tao dry.
As soon as we are at few meters from the beach,
launched us mooring lines the windward side to stabilize the boat, then the pads are positioned at the places indicated by the manufacturer,
then Tony made final adjustments to very slowly pull the boat out of the water.
Everything is Ok said us Tony,
and it is with confidence that we are "" all soft landing
location is reserved for us.
Immediately came out we plan with Tony sanding and the application of the primer and then the antifouling. The weather is not at the meeting and delay the work that last 8 days instead of 3 days provided.
So hot, the cherry tomatoes ripen in no time...
We are enjoying our 2 first tomatoes of the season which I admit
are a little "light" for the salad lunch, but
When it is accompanied by Basil and parsley freshly picked "on the ship", the flavor is even better!
Tuesday 4 June 2019: back on Fakarava
The water is fast and we puts the sails immediately to join Fakarava and take advantage of the passage of the schooner on Wednesday morning to run errands. Finally we return to Pakokota, across the street from Matthew and Agnes. Philip and Matthew have projects to together develop a management system for lithium battery.
Not too bad as office for work!
Good, the sun goes down he's going to have to stop...
The prototypes are ordered and the programming is well advanced... We continue our ride in the Tuamotus before joining Tahiti.
