A trip to Auckland is a must to buy a camper van and some warm clothes...
The weather is mild to leave Tao about ten days on the dead body in Paihia and go to Auckland by bus. Before we leave we book accommodation on Airbnb, rental car and list the addresses of van sellers (self contained) which will allow us to visit the interior in complete autonomy.
We spend our day visiting garages and private 4 Auckland corners to find the right van for us. Each time they are cars with more than 250K kms, overpriced, a general "doubtful" state and facilities with rustic and not always "clean" materials!
The next day, after a good lunch in one of the many shopping centres around Auckland, we change our long gun,
and opt for the purchase of a "standard" van that we will convert ourselves into a campervan. After a search on the internet, we go to the dealer "Mr Motor Group" and in a few hours we find "the rare pearl" just imported from Japan. A Toyota Estima from 2004, 85 000 kms on the counter, history of all interviews, an immaculate interior and body... The deal is concluded quickly between payment and insurance.
We are happy with our acquisition again. A short tour in the centre of Auckland
and its alleys.
The following days we go shopping in shopping malls to buy seasonal clothes.
A light lunch necessary to continue our shopping!
We're leaving Auckland (the well-loaded chest) towards Whangarei where we booked an Airbnb in the middle of the countryside a few minutes from the center.
Graham and Julie welcome us warmly and sympathize quickly. Nice view from the room!
In Whangarei there are many construction sites and it is in NORSAN that Tao will spend the winter dry.
The days become sunnier and we select, with the Alltrails app, some easy hikes.
On some trails you have to clean your shoes before you continue on the path,
to help stop the spread of a disease that reaches the iconic Kauri tree.
We continue the path lined with tree ferns
One of the many waterfalls around Whangarei
that makes you want to swim but despite the sun it's "chilled"
After a good and productive and relaxing week we return to Paihia where our first mission will be to convert the van into a campervan...
