I have to be slow! It took me 50 years 1 marriage, 2 children, 8 years in the USA, 9 years in Australia and 4 jobs to understand what is important to me:
Nature and friends!
Breton, all my holidays were on the water in the bay of Saint-Brieuc. I remember a return from fishing in my uncle's boat. The wind had picked up and the bow was hitting a sea of the end of the world. (to the extent of my 7 years). I was soaked, Transi of cold, huddled at the back of the cockpit. Disgusted? And no, I went back every time… with a little more respect for the sea.
I started with sailing and cruising courses and then… The first outing as a captain on my uncle's sailboat. A small habitable sailboat of 7 metres. I was taking my mother, my sister and my friend Eric on the island of Bréhat. As soon as you arrive, No time to waste and we jump into the appendix. Back after a long walk, Anxiety wins me when the boat is no longer where I had anchored it. Finally a fisherman approaches asking if we are looking for our sailboat. Whew! He needs to know where he is. Then he explains that he found our boat adrift and that legally he now owns this sea catch.. Seeing my panic he quickly reassures us by indicating a dead body on which he has moored it: “Next time, Put a little more chain!”
Balearic cruises followed, Ireland, Scotland, and a round trip to the Acores before moving to Sydney. There I discovered another style of sailing… wax-free and boot-free. Not bad! I took full advantage of it by spending all my free time racing on a one-tonner. Then Croatia, Turkey, Withsundays, Grenadines…
My second passion is hiking in the mountains. It's a bit like the sea, but vertically. I feel good there, It is a source of energy and reflection.
Engineer by training, then by dint of experiences and decisions that have not always been easy, I have the chance to do a job that fascinates me. I am a catalyst. I help my clients implement their vision and get what they want by adapting their mindset, their behaviours and communication.
Like all the important decisions in my life, that of leaving with Nathalie suddenly seemed obvious to me. Asking me the question, it is that the decision was already made. Moments of doubt: Finance, Kids, Security, Pirates, Health, Retirement… But our will is stronger and we are heading for a departure in July. 2009.
